WANT TO SING WITH US?
We always welcome new singers to the RCS and endeavor to
maintain a blend of voices and a balance between voice sections.
Simple auditions enable us to do this. The audition is not difficult –
can you sing in tune and follow the music? It helps us determine
voice range, voice quality. Don’t worry–if you have done choral
singing or have played an instrument, you will have no problem
demonstrating you music reading ability.
The Rappahannock Choral Society will be holding open rehearsals and auditions on Monday nights, through the month of January 2020. Interested singers should come to any rehearsal at the Zoan Baptist Church, 5888 Plank Road (Opposite the Harrison Crossing – Giant/Home Depot – Shopping Center). Rehearsals begin at 7 PM. Please come a little early to meet some of the singers as well as our new young talented and energetic Conductor, Dr. Jordan Davidson. Interested singers are welcome to sit in and sing at the rehearsal.
We average about 70 members of all ages and from all walks of
life. Membership dues are $35 per person ($65 couple) per concert season. Concert seasons run from mid-September
through mid-December and from mid-January through mid-May.
Dues cover the use of a binder with the concert music, and a copy
of the CD from the concert. Student dues are refunded at the end
of each season once the student has demonstrated attendance
responsibility. We have never refused membership to a qualified
singer due to finances. All music is the property of the RCS and
must be returned after the concerts.
We do not require you to purchase any special wardrobe.
Standard formal concert dress is ladies – black to the floor-skirt or
slacks, arms covered over the elbows; men – black suit, white
shirt (we supply bow ties).
Our rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7 to about 9 PM. The Zoan Baptist Church has graciously granted us to use their sanctuary for rehearsals. It is located at 5888 Plank Road, or diagonally opposite the Harrison Crossing Shopping Center (Giant & Home Depot) on Route 3 West. Our rehearsals are open to the public.
The RCS welcomes assistance with many of the jobs and projects
involved in running the chorus and staging performances. There
is music to be counted, work in the lobby at concerts, stage
construction and take-down, and more! We can use both brains
and brawn. So don’t be shy about contacting us for this.
